How to Journey
“In the mushrooms ceremony, we surrender ourselves to
the wisdom of nature”
- Maria Sabina
By this stage, you have completed the safety profile questionnaire, you have followed the guidelines for preparation for at least three days, and now you are ready to enter the expanded state of consciousness by consuming magic mushrooms in an ideal set and setting with a skilled and caring guide. Since you have done all the necessary prerequisites to get to this point, you can journey into the unknown with a sense of safety and reassurance that you are going to receive exactly what you need from your session, but it's likely not going to be what you are expecting. So I want to begin by reminding you to drop any expectations for what your experience is going to be like. Every session is unique, and the experiences we are going to encounter are always well beyond our capacities to imagine.
I want to give you some pointers to get into the right kind of attitude during the last moments before you take the medicine.
Reflect on your intention
During the last moments before you take the medicine, ask yourself honestly and wait for an answer rather than just intellectually jumping to one — "What am I doing here?"
This may seem simplistic, but what are you trying to accomplish here exactly? Are you here out of curiosity, or is there something specific that you actually want to know, heal, or learn about? There is literally no "right" answer, so just be honest with yourself. Like I said before, you are going to get the experience that you need regardless. It is important, though, to be honest about your motivations so that you become more receptive to your experience.
Trust and surrender
Once you have reflected on your intentions, just let go and enjoy the journey. Surrender yourself, layer by layer. This is really more of an art, and it takes practice, so don't worry if you feel resistance at first. It's completely normal to feel resistance. But as much as you possibly can, let go, let go, let go.
You might feel nausea; allow the experience of nausea. You might feel sadness; allow yourself to experience sadness. You might feel ecstasy; simply allow it. Surrender to what is coming up and go with it. Keep saying yes and going with where the mushrooms are taking you. Forget about controlling or understanding. Now, you are the student, and the medicine is the teacher. You say yes, teach me. I came here to learn and to grow. I trust you, and you are my master and guide. I will follow you to heaven or to hell. Wherever it is necessary to go for my growth, I shall follow with my entire being. I surrender to thy will.
Stay sharp and but fully relaxed
During the session, there will be Oolong tea, honey, electrolyte water, and cacao available for you to consume. I highly encourage you to make use of this because it will keep you sharp. What I want to encourage you to do is to keep your wits and clarity of mind while maintaining your physical composure. What I mean by this is to find a comfortable sitting or lying posture that is dignified. Don’t slouch or lie on your side. You want to have a balanced posture. Relax your body as much as possible. Allow your breathing to become rhythmic, smooth, and unobstructed. And while your physical body and breathing are relaxed, keep your mind keenly aware, as if you are listening to the most engaging lecture you’ve ever heard. My session will support you in this, as I use music that will guide and affect your experience in a positive way.
Dont be afraid to ask for support
Before the peak of your experience, I will leave you to be alone with yourself and the medicine, but I am available to you at any point for anything. There is a bell that you can ring, and I want you to ding it when you want something. Anything. If you want support, guidance, or anything whatsoever, ding the bell. Even if it’s many times, I want you to get my attention without any feeling of doubt. I am here as your guide and facilitator. It is my passion and my role to support you, so know that.
Be brave, be a warrior
If you need to throw up- throw up!
Mostly, when people need to throw up during their session, it’s because they have been carrying something. It has happened a few times in my sessions that someone has followed the preparation guidelines to a T but slipped up on one important guideline — they had a sexual encounter in the days leading up to the session. In these cases, the participant picked up some "energetic" baggage from this sexual encounter — maybe the sexual partner was carrying some unresolved depression, anger, who knows — but the participant purged this during their session. This might sound crazy, but I cannot doubt it since this has happened so many times. It's an energetic purge, and when you purge it, you somehow know where it comes from, which is also amazing. ANYWAYS... All I want to say is — if you need to purge (throw up) at any point during your session, fucking go for it. Get up, go to the toilet, and let it rip. It’s coming up for you to let go and be free of it.
Speak from your heart
When the effects of the medicine have worn off and I encourage you to recount your experience at length. Please speak your heart and talk at length about what you have experienced with me. If you feel that its too soon and you want to keep it sacred for the time being, I understand that and its perfectly ok. If you do feel like sharing | very much encourage you to speak at leangth and openly. There is no place for judgment in any of my sessions. No one is going to draw conclusions or psychoanalys you or your experience. This is actually very important part of the process so share openly and try your best to recall and communicate the messages, visuals and realizations that you just experienced.
